yeah this sh-t takes me back to like the early 90s
you know.. growing up. sh-t, story time

it was back up in the city where the story unfolds
in the county of the kings, winter time it was cold
pops had just got out the pen, you know out on parole
skip ahead about a decade , chapter comes to a close

as the page gets flipped, couple memories skipped
but i won’t forget to mention that my uncle got clipped
bulletholes to the stomach for a girl and a brick
just a casualty of war in the life that he lived.. sh-t

so much for plans of a man’s early retirement
statistic of the hood.. labeled product of enviornment
dollars outta dimes and some grams seem so inspiring
temptation leads to crime when the urge for that desire hits

riddle me this, who really watching your back..
you posted up on the wall, but all the targets attack
and when you takin the fall, you wonder what did you lack
how u gon alpha them all, when you ain’t leading the pack

see.. these n-ggas switch up, cuz of a light in they head
instead of turning it down, they rather off you instead
forget bout making a plight, they wanna pump you with lead
and if they ever get caught they doin time in the feds
commissary’s the cash, gotta eat and make spreads
then they back in the cell, probably wish they were dead
when it’s all said and done, it’s just a matter of choice
everybody know the outcome but it never gets voiced

constant struggle for survival, everybody tryna pitch in
where the hustle just defines another means to make a living

while a stack could pay the bills, keep the lights on in the kitchen
people rather get some js, and buy some jewels that kinda glisten
i’m just stating simple facts, i ain’t tryna be a critic
but it’s crazy how this habit make peception really cynic

everybody now’s a walking contradiction
faking the funk seems to be the new affliction
others just give in to a vice or an addiction
funding corporations paying for these stupid ass subscriptions

where’s the n-ggas sellin’ bootlegs right outside of the train
people doing sh-t for clout, sacrifices for fame
either following the trends or being labeled a lame

the n-ggas who used to set up the rugs and have the bootleg dvds and all that bullsh-t selling outside of the train stations?
