you know, i’ve just been thinking a lot and
a lot has happened in the past 365 days
this past year and beyond has put into perspective
just how fragile our mortality is
you know, at any moment we can just stop breathing
stop living
stop having an opportunity to
follow our dreams
express how we’re feeling
listen to our favorite song

in just the blink of an eye we can
not be here to experience that
and i think that as an artist
what that does for me is it shows me that
it’s a very small window of opportunity
that we have, to share the art that we create
there’s a reason that we have this passion to create
it’s because we’re meant to share
a lot of the times we don’t share, it’s because
we may be afraid of what people may think
how they’ll react to it

but you know what?

i’m not responsible for how anybody reacts to my art
i’m responsible for making sure that the art that i create is authentic
and true to myself and that i’m true to myself
and whoever it is meant to touch or resonate with
it will touch and resonate with them
and that’s all we can do as artists
we can create, make sure the art is authentic
and ensure that whoever it is meant to reach
it will reach
