introduction

hi there! first off, this is a new thing i’m doing. every week of this month, i’ll update this song with a new paragraph or two, usually about new songs, new releases, and thoughts on music in general. my goal for this is just to share my opinion in the music community!

little sidenote: i’m usually on g*nius during the day on weekdays! that’s why the weeks are like that

table of contents

april 12-16
– top 5 songs of this week
– honorary lana del rey song of the week
– special playlist of the week!

week of april 12 – 16

– hi! this is my first first entry! i’m super excited to do this, and i hope you’ll enjoy this!
top 5 songs of this week!
– boulevard of broken dreams by green day
– breezeblocks by alt-j
– the chain by fleetwood mac
– night moves by bob seger and thе silver bullets
– mr loverman by ricky montgomеry

honorary lana del rey song of the week
– florida kilos, ultraviolence
i like to call “florida kilos” a surf pop song, heavily influenced by..well..florida! it was also inspired by the drug documentary cocaine cowboys. my favorite part of that song is when she sings the very first lines:
white lines, pretty baby, tattoos
don’t know what they mean
they’re special just for you

special playlist of the week
“angel baby boy river phoenix”, a playlist by me on spotify

this playlist reminds me of the love of my life, river phoenix. it’s kind of a mix of songs that had meaning to him in his life, a long with songs that remind me of them, and songs that he sang. fun fact: river phoenix was part of a band, called aleka’s attic. for the 25th anniversary of his death, his sister and bandmate rain phoenix released some songs from their recording sessions which you can now find on most streaming platforms

honorary tracks from the playlist:
– s-x on fire by kings of leon
– stand by me by ben e. kind
– always forever by cults
– i don’t want to set the world on fire by the ink spots
– creep by radiohead

artist of the week

~arctic monkeys~

fun fact!
all four original members of the band were devoted fans of hip-hop when they were younger, a genre that would have an immense influence on their later work, but it was the sound of the strokes and the libertines that would help shape their early style.
