morning has dazzled my eyes
can’t shoot down the sun
life is a countdown, for what?
so much to be done
finish my coffee and sit
while the grinds dry to the cup
wondering why i got up
it hardly matters

shadows are l!cking my heels
as i walk down the street
followed me yesterday too
tomorrow they still will
patterns in things that aren’t there
records on endless repeat
such busy nothings to face
i’ll face them later

ο καπνός θα σκεπάση το φως
ο άνεμος γίνεται καύσωνας
το καλοκαίρι καίγεται
και το νερό στεγνώνει

ανάβουν οι θάμνοι και μας πλησιάζουν ανυπόμονα
ποιος θα μας θυμίθει αν γίνομε στάχτη και χώμα

too many tongues of fire
talking all at once
river of life runs so deep
it’s drowning all of us
why does the earth split in two?
swallow me into my grave
chariots ride in the clouds
spinning around, ’round

save me

what is the wasteland i see?
“a heap of broken images”
what is the dust in my mouth?
“withered stumps of time”
what is the siren i hear?
“maternal lamentation”
what is the nothing i feel?
“the wind under the door”

το γλυκό λυκόφως έγεινε σκοτάδι
οι φλογες εξορίζουν τον ήλιο
ακομα και οι τζιτζικες σωπάσαν
κι’ακόμα η φωτιά δεν χόρτασε

μεσ’την σκοτεινή απελπισία ξεχνάμε την ομορφιά
και δεν θυμώμαστε τα τραγούδια της νιότης μας

τίποτα δεν αφήνει η φωτιά
αντι για πράσινο σκόνη και σιωπή
αντι για καρπούς στάχτη και καπνός
αντι για κτίσμα ερείπιο

που κρύφτηκαν οι αρχαίοι μας ναοί και οι κολόνες
πως χάθηκε ο κρίκος μας με το μέλλον?

warm the ones who remain
now may the river that rose
replenish the fields again
now may the ground that cracked
carry our feet as we stand

be the source of our breath

ξεχύλησε το παραπονό μας
γιατι μας βρήκε ο θυμός της φύσης
και μας ξέχασαν οι προστάτες μας?
γιατι απόμεινε η σιωπή?

χάθηκαν τα χρυσά παλάτια των ονείρων μας
ξεχάστηκαν τα παιγνίδια μας στους κήπους τους

στον ορίζοντα ξανα-γεννιεταί το φως
και ξανα-γινόμαστε μάρτυρες
τα μάτια μας στρέφονται στον ουρανό
τα χέρια μας αδιάζουν το χώμα

στο στόμα ξανα-γεννιούνται τραγούδια και ύμνοι
στηριζόμαστε στην ατέλειωτη αγάπη του και έλεος
