the wage gap isn’t true for each woman individually
but if you look at women overall you can clearly see
that women earn seventy-something cents on the dollar
which is an affront against women as a cl-ss, statistically

you might know a woman who is personally successful
but women on the whole aren’t succeeding, in general
the wage gap affects us on the level of the group
and it’s in this sense that the wage gap affects us all

the wage gap is a form of theft essentially
it acts on group ident-ty
and steals from us collectively

this group-level problem needs a group explanation
which i believe to be systemic gender discrimination
men carry prejudiced opinions of women
and that’s what causes men to underpay them

but again, this bias affects women collectively
even if it doesn’t appear to harm each one respectively
although i appear to do well as an individual
as a woman i need anti-bias laws protecting me

s-xism is the cause of wage inequity
it targets us selectively
and steals our money s-xistly

some commentators blame the wage gap on women
by referencing their personalities and decisions
women, they say, prioritize their families
and have less compet-tive professional ambition

but this is problematic, because it’s a stereotype
it treats all women as a group, as if they’re alike
these vast generalizations are used against women
as justifications for taking away their rights

your stereotypes are harmful and offending me
they’re immoral fundamentally

this group level difference
has moral significance
because i expect that there is
more than coincidence here
