and i… he cut himself off from me and everyone else and i did not hear from him for… i think it was almost twelve years that i did not hear a word from this person

i consistently prayed for him for those twelve years
i was praying what you see in 1 corinthians 5 when paul says “deliver this man to satan for the destruction of his flesh that his soul may be saved.”
right?
i said “lord, if he’s running from you, i pray that his life will be devastated so that he would come back to you.”
finally we meet up
i’ve gone to see him twice now
the man is broken and has lost everything
every bit of potential he ever had is gone
he is and remains and will always be the most naturally creative, talented person i have ever met
and he has lost it all
