note: check out my newer & better reviewz here, this review is (kinda) old

after the wu-tang clan changed rap history forever with “enter the wu-tang (36 chambers)”, all nine emcees went solo with alb-ms that eventually became cl-ssics: gza’s “liquid swords”, raekwons “only built 4 cuban linx”, ghostface k!llah’s “ironman”, “supreme clientele” and “fishscale”, and then ol’ dirty b-st-rds “return to the 36 chambers: the dirty version”

ol’ dirty b-st-rd was never the most lyrical emcee, but you always knew which verse was his. he sounds so animalistic and crazy, he just has so much energy. his raspy slang sing-song type rapping gives his work an extremely interesting feel. his voice always sounds like he needs to clear his throat, and his raps are gross, with man references to unprotected sex and food stamps

but odb changed rap forever, up until his death in 2004 from an accidental overdose. ol’ dirty b-st-rd will never be forgotten by rap

production: 9/10
lyricism: 6.3/10
delivery: 10/10
concept: 8.5/10
track rating: 8.2/10
total rating: 8.4/10, 84%

conclusion: ol’ dirty b-st-rd was never a lyrical emcee, but his style can never be matched. his delivery makes up for any lyrical faults. his lyrics are disgusting and nasty, but that is what makes ol’ dirty so dirty. he can’t and will never be replaced. this b-st-rd influenced the way i see rap and hip-hop, and i thank him for that. his energy was so overpowering, he really loved what he did. ol’ dirty was one of a kind, and his memory lives on in this cl-ssic masterpiece
