talking about rap is this that and the other and it’s not up to what charlie parker was doing, well i disagree because first of all the term ‘rap music’ is not applicable to where they are because they deal with the spoken word, the fact that they have that rhythm going on attracts people, so everybody is now become part of the dance communities
and so somewhere down the line we’ve said theyre not like charlie parker- they’re not trying to be like charlie parker
they’re more like shakespeare and laurence olivier-
and that’s the bands that they should be in the record companies as well to me
and the stories they tell, they talk about their life in our community today
so that art has got- it even has us confused
