the gospel according to quique
by studrique

contemplate the ten commandments. if we’re honest with ourselves, we can see that we haven’t completely obeyed god’s law. because of this lawbreaking, we all stand condemned before god. this puts us in a predicament
since birth, we’ve been under god’s holy and just wrath. no amount of law keeping or good works can remedy the division between us and our creator. in order to go to heaven, one must be perfect. as stated earlier, we all fall short of god’s glory

that’s the problem; now here’s the solution

only one person in history has obeyed god’s law perfectly. that is jesus christ. god the father took human flesh, becoming a man in his son jesus christ. what he accomplished on earth was our redemption. jesus lived the life we should’ve lived in perfect obedience to god’s law and standard. he was then taken to the cross where he stood in our place dying the death we deserved to die, suffering the full weight of god’s wrath against sinful humanity on himself. he died, was buried, then he rose from the grave three days later proving he was who he said he was (namely, that he was god) conquering sin and death. he finished the work that he was tasked with to accomplish. he has now ascended onto the father’s right hand where he will one day return again to redeem his people

that’s the message. next is the proper response

how does one respond to the good news of jesus christ? the bible presents the proper response in numerous locations. here are a few:

in the gospel according to mark, chapter 1 verse 15, jesus said
“the time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of god is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.”

in the gospel according to matthew chapter 7 verses 13-14, jesus said
13 “enter by the narrow gate. for the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many
14 for the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few

in the gospel according to luke, chapter 14 verses 26-27 & 33, jesus said
26 “if anyone comes to me and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be my disciple
27 whoever does not bear his own cross and come after me cannot be my disciple

33 so therefore, any one of you who does not renounce all that he has cannot be my disciple

in the gospel according to john chapter 3 verses 16-18 and 36, it reads

16 “for god so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life
17 for god did not send his son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him
18 whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only son of god

whoever believes in the son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the son shall not see life, but the wrath of god remains on him

in the book of acts chapter 2 verses 36-40 peter says
36 let all the house of israel therefore know for certain that god has made him both lord and christ, this jesus whom you crucified.”
37 now when they heard this they were cut to the heart, and said to peter and the rest of the apostles, “brothers, what shall we do?”
38 and peter said to them, “repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of jesus christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the holy spirit
39 for the promise is for you and for your children and for all who are far off, everyone whom the lord our god calls to himself.”
40 and with many other words he bore witness and continued to exhort them, saying, “save yourselves from this crooked generation.”

in the book of acts chapter 16 verse 31, paul and silas said
“believe on the lord jesus christ, and you will be saved…”

in his letter to the romans, chapter 10 verses 9-10 & 13, paul says

“… if you confess with your mouth the lord jesus and believe in your heart that god has raised him from the dead, you will be saved. for with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation

for “whoever calls on the name of the lord shall be saved.””

if you’ve never entered into a relationship with god through the gospel, i invite you to come to him now

isaiah chapter 55 verses 6-7 says
6 “seek the lord while he may be found; call upon him while he is near;
7 let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the lord, that he may have comp-ssion on him, and to our god, for he will abundantly pardon
