i was in a mad sick wheelchair
felt like i wouldn’t even give a care
but then i did
cos it felt pretty hard
to push myself around on the wet and rough gr-ss
and it was, it really sucks
getting into the bathroom man that was tough
couldn’t even open the door
something that is normally a simple ch0r-
then i started going to mac-mac square
couldn’t even get half-halfway there
without being pushed, cos i was weak
didn’t know this would take up my whole d-mn week

getting up the ramp was no easy feat
especially cos i couldn’t use my feet
couldn’t even get quarter way
cos i was stuck oh man it was not my hey day
i felt useless to my dismay
had to get pushed by a small asian lad-ay
then got up on the station
got a lotta looks from people as if i was a patient, yeah
they’re like sorry bout it man
i was like hey man just tryna do my thang

then, nearly fell in the fountain
felt pretty cr-p, felt like a mountain
that can’t move around easy
cos i don’t have money like yeezy

so i was in the shopping centre now
doing crazy wheelies feeling like “pow!”
i was just having a good time
people gave me looks like sympathy like they mimes
then i went to boost juice now
he asked “yo man whats up wow?”
i was like “i feel just ﬁne”
inside i knew that i wasn’t lyin’
he was like “no but seriously man
what happened to you, stuff musta hit the fan!”
i was like, “well its all a lie
we’re actually just med students” then i started to cry
inside, cos i felt bad
like i was duping the public, even though they were rad
like cheating them outta sympathy
made me feel like i didn’t have empathy

but that’s what this is all about
tryna get empathy for my future patient’s doubt
and worrisome troubles
as they navigate through life’s trouble bubbles
yeah, that’s what i said
need to get this stuff into my head
needa know how it feels to go in a wheelchair
step around on crutches, be visually impaired
cos its hard, yeah it’ll take time to heal
and as a doctor you need to know that feel
