letra de everyday thing - seb harris

[chorus]
when we were kids, and didn’t understand
this was an everyday thing
before we grew up, and it all made sense
we had our everyday thing

[verse 1]
so we head out the door, 4’oclock on the dot
hop in the ‘63 and we headed to the spot
everything was so cool, everything was so chill
a couple kids on the westside tryna get a deal
with just few dollars sittin comfy in my pocket
i stole it from the counter cause i didn’t have a wallet
a bit too young to go and get a job
used to bum off my friends so i could head to the shop
i was a quiet kid, barely known at all
then i met a few dudes that brought me into the squad
felt like i was finally movin’ up the world
we used to head out on the town, round the blocks, with the pearls
it was in that moment that i thought to myself
“is this really what i want?” since i was stuck on the shelf
cause everything’s in fast motion after feeling real vexed
so i said, “i’ll just keep rollin’ and see what’s next”

[chorus]
[verse 2]
a few years pass by, and what do you know?
the other homie got his license and he drove real slow
only had his learners permit, he could only drive one
we would sprint out to the spot to see who won
we made better time to get in front of the lines
and with the sun shining bright we could sit outside
i said, “man, nothing could be better than this”
the homie piped up, said “chill brother, we just kids!”
i said “you right smalls, but take a second to think-
when we’re older we can look back, laugh and reminisce!”
and i guess i was right, that’s why i’m writin’ this song
cause even if they packed and gone, we still get along
after lunch we would grab a drink for later
but at the corner gas station, ran into a lady
she said “have you ever heard of west side story?”
i said “we ain’t a bunch of gangs, this is high school glory”

[chorus]

[verse 3]
2018 was the year, freedom was in sight
had one job to do and i was doin’ alright
even with the homies on they education thing
we still kicked it, shoestringin’ on the west wing
i would dress a little different but the squad didn’t change
saw a brother lookin’ down, i said “we’re one in the same”
even if the shirt your sportin’ is lookin’ kind of tacky
we been hangin’ with a dude wearing discoloured khaki’s
put my hand on his shoulder, sent him on his way
headed out the back door, wave to burners in the ashtray
little did i know it’d be the last time i’d see them
pourin’ a couple drinks and throwin’ caps in the pm
complimented smalls, said with time comes the blessings
later down the road i would learn that greater lesson
sometimes i think about it and i’m sad that it’s over
but i thank god it happened and we keep on growin’
[chorus]
