i remember this one monday
i decided to take a walk, i saw gunplay
m-ss shootings, k!llings, then i saw a baby
k!lled by it’s mother, nothing is surprising these days!
i saw a young man crying for his mother
next to him was a little girl longing for her father
aids, rumours of tumours, cancer..
i saw hurt
young boys now fathers
girls getting raped

i saw people that are truthfully in search
of hope in god
but fake preachers robbing the church
marriages, relationships, families broken
countless miscarriages, fake friendships, abortions

i saw people getting sick with no hope of healing
a sad feeling, outbreaks getting people bedridden
corruption being the order of the day
from illiteracy to bureaucracy
you have to pay your way

cause the cost of living is ridiculous
i saw people being mocked for believing in jesus
the flesh having its way
temptations to fornicate
i saw artists being told their vision is limited in the church!

i saw a nation cry for redemption
her children are affiliated with malnourishment
she said “for how long will they call me developing?”
“how long will it take for me to be eloquent?”

but then to my surprise, right before my very eyes
was a young man with blood on his hands and blood in his mouth
he looked at me… immediately, i looked away
for the same reason i don’t like hospitals
the sight of blood makes me feel some type of way

i couldn’t help but look back
he was badly bruised, his back couldn’t offer him support to stand
i couldn’t stand the sight of his inability

i asked him what crime he committed to deserve this
and he told me he murdered, lied, stole, fornicated, heresy
rape, adultery, corruption, blasphemy, only to name a few

that if i were to count his sins, it wouldn’t take a month to complete
that made me weak, i could see and feel his defeat
then he said, if love was a crime, he would gladly do the time for me
i was appalled cause he just implied that he was innocent and i was guilty!

he said, he is but a lamb ready for slaughter
bearing the sins of all humanity, me inclusive
what’s a mob to a king?
that mob over there just chose to have a king crucified
i am about to die

what mob? i couldn’t see any mob
he said, “the ones listening to this have chosen the world over me
they have chosen to pursue the pleasures of this world over me
tell them to come out of their iniquities
i still forgive
my blood covers all their sins

tell them i love them still
tell them jesus loves them still…

i have given you a message
phinix, why are you still sleeping?
open your eyes and see that which you cannot see
that which is unseen.”

then i woke up and saw that my heart was on fire
his blood is the fuel that sets my heart on fire

i see a void within, you’re unfulfilled
the burden is heavy, you can’t hep but feel
alone, you’re tired, i know

but you should know that what i saw right before i saw him was the world that he died for, today
you should know that those troubles we are going through are only but for a moment
my head of knowing serving my heart of feeling
this feeling i’m feeling is revealing this ep in a one-line story
‘our light temporary affliction is preparing us for an eternal weight of glory’
