two days ago, my wife died
loneliness has invaded me
i need to leave our house for a while
i’d like to find the village
far away from my memory
far away from home
beyond
forests and hills
near the snowy mountain

a long mourning trip

nature wanted me to forget my pain
with waterfalls, giant trees and flowers
i travelled through an eden
all alone but followed by singing birds

the forest was now behind me
alone on the road, i walked
around me, the great valley was quiet
then i had a bad feeling :
stalls of merchants were empty and rotten
as if they were abandoned for years
behold the village, creepier than i remembered
fear was growing in me

why does the silence reign ?
what is this smell ?
the village is in ruins
effluvia of war and death
cursed the silence
only broken by crows
by crows

houses were still burning, corpses too
skeletons had formed a path surrounded by crows
to the mountain

terror was leading me among skulls
maybe to my own death ?
crows woke up to the sound of broken bones
they were missing the taste of living flesh

nightmare

the closer i got, the lesser i wanted to believe in
because as far as i remembered, this mountain wasn’t there

a pile of tortured cadavers in their snowy grave clothes
dismembered, mutilated, butchered and cursed
a storm under my skull :
darling’s face everywhere
i buried her corpse, and i found a thousand

alone in front of the mountain of the dead
alone in front of the mountain of the dead
alone ! mountain ! mountains
no! mountains, everywhere
