they told us lies in the history class, fed us a watered down, whitewashed version of the past, had us memorizing trivial dates and facts to distract from the atrocities they carried out in our name. they made us pledge allegiance to their flag while we were too young to understand that what it represented was bad, show respect with a hand on your chest, but a kevlar vest would have been a much safer bet. and somebody called america the land of the free, i guess they didn’t know that it was built by slavery, and founded on the site of a genocide, continually carried out against the indigenous tribes. so take another look, it’s easy to see, this place ain’t as great as they’d have you believe, we’ve got an ongoing list of brutalities, adding on to our legacy of evil deeds. no amount of voting in the red versus blue will make up for what we put the world through. someday america will pay for it’s many crimes against humanity. and if we ever hope to make it through the turbulent days we undoubtedly face, we’re gonna have to find a better way, cause we don’t have time for incremental change. i said, we don’t have time for incremental change… and now the clock’s ticking down,10 seconds to doom, the alarm went off but we just hit snooze. the world’s on fire we got no time to lose.. but the president said it’s a hoax, yeah he called it fake news. and theres a feel good story on my hand held sceen about a superficial gesture of charity. it’s the fake smiling face of corporate greed.. paid for by tax breaks, and subsidized by you and me. and too many people seem to believe that building more walls is gonna make um more free.. let’s wait and see how free your gonna be when cities begin to be swallowed up by the sea. . i know it’s quite the frightening notion, the rising of the ocean, and there ain’t no magical potion thats gonna save us from ourselves. and i know that these are trying times, the future don’t look so bright, it’s hard to hold on to hope but we’ve gotta try, cause it’s gonna take a h-ll of a fight. . i know it’s hard to face these facts, harder to muster up the courage to act, even harder still to stand up and fight back, but if we don’t who do you think is gonna get the last laugh? i said, no amount of voting for whoever you choose, will ever be enough to see us through, we’ve got to find a better way, cause we don’t have time for incremental change. and if we ever hope to make it through the turbulent days we face, when the weather starts to change, we’re gonna have to start fighting today.. cause we don’t have time for incremental change. i said.. we don’t have time for incremental change
