sometimes i wish there was a place i could go, a place where no one can find me. maybe this place doesn’t exist or maybe it does. all i know is that it’s a place where i’m free

i watch the clouds float in the blue sky and i think, and i’m always thinking. i think about the things i’ve done wrong and i think about the things i finally got right, and i think about all of the cities i’ve never seen because your eyes always looked like a boulevard i wanted to walk down. your heart was like a map i wanted to explore and your mind, oh how i loved your mind because it was like the sea: so vast, deep and mysterious. sometimes i didn’t even know what you were thinking about. i always hoped it was about me

and really everything reminds me of you. i want what i can’t have and i think about your hands that touched my skin and the words i said to you that night before i left. i think i said “i’ll love you forever.”

and i think about the dreams i’m chasing and i think about all those d-mn fears that dance in the back of my mind haunting every move i make. then i think about the future and i think about death. i think about all the people who don’t believe in me and i tell them what i can’t do but i do it anyway. i think about the people who once loved me because i once loved them

i’m tired but i keep the fire burning inside of me because i’m alive and it’s not too late. i know my heart’s a little wounded and my love can be reckless but at least i’m a rebel with a cause

and when the dust settles and i can breathe again, i’ll ask myself “what do i want?”
