dismantling itself into unrecognizable plots of misery
had i known the heart would leak
slobbering its sap
(does it get lonely being awake all the time)
with a vulgar visibility
into the dressed up dining rooms of strangers
had i known that solitude could stifle the breath
(like the moon left on all night among the leaves)
loosen the joint (oh star)
and force the tongue against the palate
(let this be my happiness)
had i known that lonеliness could keloid
(my three sisters arе sitting……doubly compassionate)
winding itself around the body
(black obsidian…came too soon for twilight)
in an ominous and beautiful cicatrix
(just to know that we’ll go winging)
had i known, yet i would have loved you
(too late for dawn……through chaos)
your brash and insolent beauty
(with the passion of plain day)
your heavy comedic face
and knowledge of sweet delights
(at the seam over her heart which has never healed entirely)
but, from a distance
i would have left you whole and wholly
(her stockings are torn but she is beautiful)
for the delectation of those who
(let this be my summertime)
wanted more and cared less
i guess i didn’t because if i did i knew you’d believe me
