[verse 1]
when i was little, i would fiddle all around and solve a riddle
got some skittles, walk and wiggle
shoot some hoops and drop and dribble
who’s the monkey in the middle? i was like a king at all the
things i did when i was just a kid like it was always simple
n64 up in my room kept me satisfied
that goldeneye to pass the time, you can work a paddle, right?
good, ready up then, cause we’re about to battle like
no one’s ever done and now it’s over, kid, you’re out of lives
how did i ever let myself lose sight of what just might have
been the best times of my life like no kid inside of
me lives on? geez, i’m wrong, let me get a little bite of
what it’s like to be grown up and see if i don’t be the kind of
man that still wears his pajamas out in public
gets excited over hot wheels, shop deals, and love it
king of the hill, i’m alway standing on the summit
everybody grows up, but you can overcome it

[chorus]
let us go back to the good ol’ days
back when we were still kids causing mayhem
back to care free summers and the year long days
back when life was prime, i just want to play, and
i said let us go back to the good ol’ days
back when late at night, everybody stayed in
back to popcorn and movies and the near gone days
back when all was fine, can i get an amen
[verse 2]
i recall the very first time i learned to ride a bike
with no training wheels or helping hand and it was kind of like
flying with the birds in the sky, yeah, my mind was psyched
not a single worry growing up came in my line of sight
(i was alright) and i was a beast at what i did
competition done, there would always be some little kid
saying they could never beat me, yeah, that part is hard, ’tard
coolest kid up in my school, i had the charizard card
used to think i was a superhero, wore a mask and cape
watching superman and batman made my powers activate
but dinner will be ready soon, so now this city has to wait
thank the lord for my meal then ask my mom to pass the plate
brush my t–th then go to bed and let my dreams take me away
into another world then let my imagination lead the way
i’d always pray upon the day my life and dreams would be the same
but whoever would have thought that that day would be today

[chorus]
let us go back to the good ol’ days
back when we were still kids causing mayhem
back to care free summers and the year long days
back when life was prime, i just want to play, and
i said let us go back to the good ol’ days
back when late at night, everybody stayed in
back to popcorn and movies and the near gone days
back when all was fine, can i get an amen
[verse 3]
build a fort with pillows, grab some blankets, got to fill those
little holes, but leave some openings so i can have some windows
mom’s up in the kitchen baking snacks so now i got to steal those
going backwards through my childhood
say my goodbyes and my h-llos
i would kick back, watch my tv shows
with gushers and fruit roll-ups
’til my tongue was multicolored, hit the fridge and get some sodas
dared to kiss the girl i liked, well tell the boys i just did
had every single g.i. joe, i was a toys-r-us kid
water fights, rocking our swimsuits, super soakers, and balloons
it was war all summer long, we formed a base for our platoons
until winter came along and then the snowball fights were then a
major deal aside from christmas, always waiting up for santa

[chorus]
let us go back to the good ol’ days
back when we were still kids causing mayhem
back to care free summers and the year long days
back when life was prime, i just want to play, and
i said let us go back to the good ol’ days
back when late at night, everybody stayed in
back to popcorn and movies and the near gone days
back when all was fine, can i get an amen
