i’ve seen fights in bars over women over anything
as soon as they start they blow over
get a broken nose, stomped in toes or worse in the hear of the moment
there’s surely no tellin’ how bad you’d be fallin’ at the feet of a guy with broken glass in his hand
if he’s got a gun in his mit, no tellin’ how quick he could pop you
right where you stand

i dreamt last night on a plane i was in an arcade when a demonstration came in my sights
there was a ban on guns, there were the onеs who were protesting shootеrs’ rights
didn’t know what to expect maybe a bunch of rednecks
screaming and shooting in the air but what i seen was people not unlike you or me marching steely-eyed towards town square
started talking to a man who had his son by the hand in he other he held a 44 magnum just like dirty harry’s i said ‘you don’t need to carry one of those, you’re not eastwood or cagney!’
he said ‘this is the gun my dad gave to me! besides, i’m a full-grown man!’
i said ‘well fair enough but wouldn’t it be rough to see one wind up in your own boys hand.’ he said ‘i made him one out of wood (looks pretty good) and it don’t do him no harm. and it’s my plan when he’s ten he’ll understand how to properly handle a firearm.’

i wanted to say what about when he has one of those days when anger descends on him like a cloud. armed with a knife
yeah, he might take a life but with a gun no tellin’ how many he’d take down
i wanted to say ‘for the sake of your son give up your gun’
but i let those thoughts slip away
i wasn’t bold enough to get that argument sold i could see that one lasting for days, i didn’t wanna raise his ire to fight ain’t my style
i win mine by a hundred yards
no matter how fast you scoot if the other guy shoots that’s when you’ll lose that dispute hard
i guess that’s the lesson, not all people are aggressive
some people just shoot cans for a thrill
but people always snappin’ you can’t say what would happen
when you make it too easy to k!ll
