what is your name & where are you from?
the names jayoo da boss, with boss being an acronym that actually means “bringing others somewhere successful”. coming up from the twin cities champaign urbana, definitely been round a fair share of disloyalty and snakes. which is a big inspiration to the foundation and name of boss
what got you into music?
in all honesty, music has always been something i like to f-ck with and vibe with, from dancing or trying to beatbox as a kid to free styling with my homies in high school. musics always been something i have fun with especially when it comes to making my own. out here doing what i been doing just growing with it
what makes you different?
in terms of being different though i think it rеally boils down to the b.o.s.s narrative and 9:33 da family. loyalty’s a big thing with me so whеn everyones out here trying to be shiesty, snaking, back stabbing what ever you wanna call it, it really makes it hard to even want to mess with anyone not apart of da family. i’m just tryna turn up with the folks that’s standing with me, any ill intentions towards me or da family is a no and i don’t got no interest in trying to make amends for “randoms”
what’s your favorite lyric you made?
my current favorite lyric of mine comes from a song of my up coming mixtape called “burple nurple”. “sliding in a four door we four deep but it’s nine in here”. that line right there really turns the song up cuz it’s a example of how me and the homies could be riding around, four deep but we 9:33 so it’s nine in there and the energy we brining turning sh-t up any and every time
what do you plan on achieving or promoting?
honestly right now my biggest goal is trying to put on my family, all the folks that’s with me and show people you just gotta stay down and stay with it. got some homies i’m helping on their journey with music, always trying inspire and help push new ideas so everyone around me can make it. promoting for da family
what do you want to promote, when or what are you dropping? single etc
after some months of work i’m finally ready to drop my first mixtape titled “family representative”. been tapping in locally and even out the country for this one, 13 tracks, some experimental providing more sounds while i always balance it out with my more usual high tempo bar for bar rap. a project that’s fire front to back and left to right!
