[intro, voiced recording]
well, i saved the hottest for last as we’ve considered the doctrine of angels and the doctrines of demons and satan, and we’ve looked at- for two weeks we spent talking about heaven and the theology of heaven. and this week we are going to be talking, as you’ve heard us say a couple of times, uh, about the biblical doctrine of h-ll. and the reason why we do this is because we know, uh, like thеse other topics it is, uh, it is very poorly undеrstood. the question that is often asked from those who struggle with this doctrine is:
what grounds does god have to punish someone for eternity?
what justification is there for a holy and perfect god to forgive a wicked and rebellious sinner?
what justification is there for a holy and perfect god to forgive a wicked and rebellious sinner?
in other words, what grounds does god have to forgive the most vile and wretched of people?
[distortion is applied over the audio as these lines repeat]
what justification is there for a holy and perfect god to forgive a wicked and rebellious sinner?
what justification is there for a holy and perfect god to forgive a wicked and rebellious sinner?
in other words, what grounds does god have to forgive the most vile and wretched of people?
[verse 1]
the hardest spot to sleep in is always home
as soon as i get cut up and all is gone
and so you retreat into all of your clichés
you’re tired and comfortable in your oh-so-boring cage

[chorus]
i’m doing it now, at least i know am, at least i caught myself before i sent this out
i’m doing it now, at least i know am, at least i caught myself before i sent this out
into this stupid world that doesn’t give a d-mn
oh, what kind of fool do you think i am?
what kind of fool do you think i am?

[bridge, voiced recording]
wh- you know, why does god allow me to suffer? why is there evil in this world? and i’m effected by it?
you see, the starting point is man. that’s the secularist worldview
and when you take on a biblical worldview, when you truly put on the lens where you view all things- all things! and all problems in the universe as fundamentally the problem of: how in the world is god’s goals and desires and expectations, how are those problems going to mean any to the godless of this world?

[voiced recording, distorted and unclear]

[verse 2]
it’s just a past occurrence
no more than coincidence
got a past i can’t recall
i have a life i don’t remember at all
it’s down beneath the skin
beneath my body’s grey walls
where do i begin?
why do i keep beginning at all?
and…
[chorus]
i’m doing it now, at least i know am, at least i caught myself before i sent this out
i’m doing it now, at least i know am, at least i caught myself before i sent this out
into this stupid world that doesn’t give a d-mn
oh, what kind of fool do you think i am?
what kind of fool do you think i am?

[voiced recording, distorted and unclear]

[outro]
the only company i keep [?]
[?]

[voiced recording]
-the living? our only hope for salvation and peace with god is by looking to christ, by seeing his perfection, by knowing that he is righteous. i am wicked and sinful and i need christ as my savior! when i begin to understand that i begin to take on a biblical worldview. and it made grace amazing. and beautiful. and glorious. and it made me thankful. i believe that one of the main reasons why christians suffer from a lack of gratitude and a lack of thankfulness is because they do not really understand the depravity of their own sin
