each night vampires sought to attack us

then came we to the northmost reaches
broke the wall of enchantment there
left the ice-bound crags behind us
and p-ssed into a valley fair
there a perpetual summer reigns
flowers are all in bloom
the air delightful; fruit hangs from the l-strous branches of the trees
a gentle race of people there: not dwarves or elves, but a lost folk
greets our coming – offers us wine in silver goblets
wasn’t long before zerkol the mage
-ssayed to follow us; sat up all night
weaving his magic to break the barrier
couldn’t – but found a way through
thence crept a legion of heinous dwarves
led by zerkol into the vale
(dark shadow athwart the sun, as it were):
our prayers to no avail
down into the valley they went, shouting martial cries
pillaging huts of the goodly folk that gave us shelter
the vampires tried to follow, but were repulsed; the wall did shiver, and seared their pallid flesh as it had been h-llfire
we fought all night, and then in the morning we looked
behold, the dwarves were dead
the rivers and fountains had been poisoned
the northern dwarves are a hideous race
driven to mountains by sheer disgrace
always attacking the race of men:
zerkol uses them again and again
some are duped blind by their treachery
(the dwarves often feign themselves as we)
but don’t be taken in by their craft
when they do evil the demons laugh
i wish you’d see things the way we do
but friend, you seldom, if not never, do

you’ll turn to hanging out with dwarven throng
