white ghosts swim across green grassy hills
pock-marked with rocks and leaning stones
whispering woman dances cold in mania
a winter’s kiss to chill our bones
women of sullied ivory stare with wild eyes
toward the east where the fog ends
over the mountains that trespass in heaven
into darkness, darkest peril, dark as the monster
remind me of the days when i could sleep
without a thousand demons watching over me
gather your iron tools
death-bringers to men and ghouls
while broken-hearted ladies fill our cups with tears fermented
at first light
the rain comes
and we’re far
from our homes
we walked a thousand miles in misery
to fall upon the mountain’s mouth, painted red
i stood unscathed, in madness and severed limbs
black scales and tongue, forked like a serpent
i lowered my pants and p-ssed on its evil eye
and laughed out loud as it withered and died
at first light
the rain comes
and we’re coming home
