would we even take time to listen

would we laugh every time he warned us

would take him away in the night
and place him upon a burning cross

while the few faithful knelt ‘neath that cross of shame
as the world, once again, turned on him
if it happens, i want to be one of the faithful
or would we crucify jesus again?
