[chorus]
i been paving it, paving it my own way
clothing stained with some paint but sh-t it’s okay
got no pay, got no pay to get a gold chain
but i make, but i make the most of most things

[verse]
carpet still got play dough stains from
when i was like 8 or so
heart breaks and the 808’s still
playing out my radio like

oh oh oh, i been
messing ’round creating though
cheffing some alfredo that’s a
couple generations old

i been cheesing like cheetos because
– i been doing me yo, feel
like the one and i’m neo, but uhh
– sorry for the ego, tell it what it

be though, a slight weirdo, grown on
gambino, and the beatles, and i
been chilling quoting tarantino, and i
been ill but don’t got any measles, and the

chi town where i be though i’m from
stl shout smino (aye)
thrifted tee and some chinos same ole
kid but it’s a new me though i been

[chorus]
i been paving it, paving it my own way
clothing stained with some paint but sh-t it’s okay
got no pay, got no pay to get a gold chain
but i make, but i make the most of most things

[post chorus}
yeah da da da da it’s okay it’s okay
yeah
alright
yeah

[verse 2]
i been feeling heaven sent coooling in the presence tense
music’s all subjective i’m doooing what i felt with this

i been in the lab like dexter is, give a
look into my life through the references, so
imma rewind bill and ted with it, and i don’t
care it’s (carrots) corny cause i’m bred (bread) for this, just

messing with it, since i was seven and listening to my
papa play a bit i was impressed and i picked up instru-
ments caused of him, and i was 10 when i then, started
making my own beats and began penning to them now

10 years later it was simpler then, when i
used to only stress about my nintendo pets
now there’s all this pressure to get riches and some relevance and
i’m just tryna stick to why i been doing this like

still, do it for love of the sound
still, do it just clowning around
still, they can’t say nothing now feet on the
ground head is up in the clouds, got me like

[bridge]
hold up, hold up, and i do not wanna
grow up, grow up, got me like
wait up, wait up, keep dreaming don’t
wake up, wake up and it got me like

hold up, hold up, and i do not wanna
grow up, grow up, got me like
wait up, wait up, keep dreaming don’t
wake up, wake up and it got me like

[chorus]
i been paving it, paving it my own way
clothing stained with some paint but sh-t it’s okay
got no pay, got no pay to get a gold chain
but i make, but i make the most of most things

[post chorus v2]
and it’s still a bit cliche
wrote it in brail so you can, feel what i’m saying
feel like a star because i, need some sp-ce
co got art i said it’s, in my name its

dylan, francesco, cozart
go combine them its francesco’s art

[verse 3]
said i’m doing what i felt with it, so
imma rewind bill and ted with it this isn’t
new, this is just my truth and see initials
dc like my shoes use to be, back in

elementary sitting in booster seats, back
when i had a lisp and didn’t usually speak, but
now i’m reminiscing how it flew by me, hoping
younger me is proud of what he grew to be

yeah, so lemme bring it back a bit
yeah, to when i started rapping it was
sixth grade, couldn’t reach the cap’n crunch from cabinets but
i was tryna have my cl-sses p-ss a little faster sh-t

so i started writing raps on notes cards
got the ripped up pages to show part, the
first one was something like my name is dylan cozart, and
i’m bout to compose art like im the ghost of mozart

– started making beats and spitting what i wrote but i
didn’t show a soul till i built the confidence to show a
bit of my friends and eventually uploading em to
youtube going by a different name i won’t say

freshman year of high school somebody found out and started
playing my sounds out loud, red faced i started
chasing him round the cl-ss to make him turn down my raps
after school i went straight to my house to take

everything i made down down down
tryna build my confidence up up up then dropped bought a
beat making machine an mpc till my
senior year i sold it for some empty cds to put my

songs on, still do it now in the present dropped
9 tapes in 3 years, sounds quiet excessive but i’m
still just messing around cause i get that it’s
subjective, and i’m just doing what i felt with it

yeah basically i’m saying that it’s
funny how it changes ain’t it, i ain’t the same but i’m
still on the same sh-t, still the awkward lame kid who’s
still finding his way tryna (left ear: do something great man) (right ear: do some creating)

yeah, and i still rep the place that i
came s t ill (stl), and i still put the
ill in my first name and art in the last said it’s
dylan, francesco, cozart
