this past year i reflected on a lot
i listened a lot more than i spoke
i let the underlying intentions of those around me
soak into my mind and reveal themselves over time
i learned that not everyone surrounding you
has your best interest at heart
i learned that the more you gain success
the more people you leave behind
i learned that you can take full control of your mind
and breathe hope into the universe
and feel the energy it gives back to you
i learned that you don’t have to stoop to the low levels
that the serpents around you are thirsting to drag you into
i learned that as long as you send light into the world
light will be your life
i learned to chase every dream
no matter how small
because one day will be the last day
and what will you have to show for
if you never took a chance because
you were waiting on the perfect time
scared to step out into the sun
clinging to the comfort of night
i learned that the time is now!
you see this is exactly what we wanted
but is it ever really what it seems?
