and i remember being a little girl, i was the only one who used to stay up

“okay, daddy”
i kept rocking away on my chair
but i always had music around me
and he always encouraged me because i feel, and i know that he wanted to sing very, very, very badly
and he never took the opportunity to do it, but he encouraged me very much
so, uh, randy happened to have written a song that i would love to dedicate to my father here in this album, and, uh, so that you people can know the gentleman that is responsible for my continuing to sing
it’s called “daddy’s dream”

i’ve got nothing in these pockets, but these tired old hands
so weak and worn with time
they worked so hard, they worked so long to finish the dream
my daddy left behind

he dreamed he’d climb a mountain
for all the world to see
but he had no time for mountains
because of mama and me
the dream my daddy always had to keep inside
was something i could do
to show my daddy that i loved him so
i would make his dreams come true

so i started up the mountain
found love along the way
but i had no time to love him
’cause to love him was to stay

well now, i’ve climbed that mountain
and it just don’t seem right
’cause there’s no one here to see
for what good is a dream without someone to share
like daddy shared with me
like my daddy shared with me
