here’s a story ’bout big casey, and everyone who knew his rig
and one thing’s sure, they all agree: he’s bad and he’s big
when they made that twin-six jimmy, made sixes side-by-side
they must have known what a big man wants, and they musta had casey in mind

casey topped the mountain, nosed her down the grade
fl!cked a hidden smile when he checked his watch and saw thе time he had made
hе had two axles pullin’, twin screws a-singin’ a song
he’s four hours early with a forty-ton load, now nothin’ could go wrong

ahead he saw a tanker, but what he didn’t see
was the jockey jump when his airbrakes failed, and left the binder runnin’ free
casey swore a mighty oath when he saw her pick up speed
if that there jockey lives through this run, he’s gonna answer to me

casey has no scruples, in one word, he was mean
but his heart stood still when a schoolbus headed for that high-octane
he had a vision of their faces, their laughter pierced his ears
his mighty foot then left the brake as he reached for his highest gear

now, the story goes that casey caught the tanker fast and clean
when the high-test took the shock, it put a powder-house to shame
and, yards away, a group of kids, their eyes no longer gay
saw what was left of a big, bad man who died for them that day
these same kids bought a headstone and placed it at his grave
it reads just one word: “casey; from the children that he saved”
they parked his jimmy near the grave, with sixes side-by-side
the critics of the way he lived now boast of how he died
