inevitably, i find myself drifting
leaping from thought to dripping thought
into my eyes, golden streams, sunlight
other’s lives … worlds walk by me
right by me, close
then gone
briefly entering my world, as i theirs
and with the speed of glance
taking in all i am
my life
my world
my dreams
all neatly set in a category of people
whom my appearance reminds them of

but there are few who truly enter my play
many share but a few lines
and too many for a few left the stage
still singing the songs of youth and folly
enough to ponder upon
while replaying my life in my thoughts

again i drift
the clock at the top of the hill strikes four
in a strong wind
reality slaps my face
i must go
thou the sunlight begs me to stay
