[interviewer]:
ahem, welcome to the introduction (welcome)
this is an interview on the k!lling sin discussion
i’m here live with rapper tim brindle
he’ll tell us about k!lling sin and make this thing simple (please)
so, timothy, what inspired this project?
it’s not like people like this concept
and it doesn’t have the hypest content (it’s true)
so, please tell us, what’s your writing object?

[timothy brindle]:
oh, sure
since the making of “the great awakening”
i’ve noticed this main major thing
i see my brothers and sisters, we truly need help
to put off our sin, yo, including myself
so i wrote this album so in the heat of the moment
instead of giving in, we’ll think on jesus’ atonement
’cause although we’re no longer slaves to sin
there’s still indwelling sin that remains within
and every day we’re being more made like him
until the day we see christ and we’re blameless men
but until then, pilgrims, the main thing left to do is k!ll sin

[interviewer]:
k!ll sin?
[timothy brindle]:
yes, k!ll sin
you know, k!lling sin
it’s based on romans 8:13
it means to put to death the works of the flesh by the spirit (yeah, yeah)
it’s the putting off of the old self

[interviewer]:
ah, come on, don’t talk about it, just rhyme about it, pal. come on!

[tim brindle]:
we’re new buildings after regeneration
but there’s sin within, we need renovation
so may the word of god keep penetrating
(but it’s the holy spirit’s key meditation)
our salvation’s secure from the day that we’re saved
then, begins the process of sanctification
which involves suffocating all l-sting, hating, and pride, and doubting, not just the blatant sins

[interviewer]:
excuse me, sir, but i do prefer
you not to use words so huge and nuclear
a scholar like myself can acknowledge your prudence
but you’re talking to hip-hoppers
not theology students, c’mon!
[timothy brindle]:
well, this may sound like the wildest truth
but in our sin before god we’re a pile of p–p (that’s disgusting)
and when he saves us through faith
he covers our dung with the righteousness and blood of his son
so towards us, he got no anger to show
’cause it’s like our p–p’s covered with a blanket of snow
but now that he saved us and covered us up
his holy spirit shovels out all the dung and the l-st
and this is k!lling sin, and it’s till the day of glory
when his work is done, we’ll be blameless, purely
then i’ll praise his son, ’cause his grace secured me

[interviewer]:
okay, you’re done, you’ve made your statement, surely
but you sort of rambled with that corny sample
i need you to give a few more examples
’cause you’re kind of boring
here, would you explain this more and clearer
to the normal hearer?

[timothy brindle]:
well, if it seems i’m shouting smart jargon
k!lling sin is weeding out your heart’s garden
so the fruit of the spirit can have room when he bears it
then you’ll be more in tune to his truth when you hear it
[interviewer]:
although your report has me snoring, tim
what’s helped you k!ll sin since you’ve been born again?

[timothy brindle]:
well, i’d say enjoying christ more than sin
and seeking him every morning and adoring him

[interviewer]:
wow, that’s mesmerizing, mister

[timothy brindle]:
oh yeah, plus i’ve been memorizing scripture
to meditate on promises in his word
yo, this has been huge to conquer sin with this urge
but if i do sin, i hug the bl–dy cross
where christ suffered for us to be scrubbed and washed
and i repent, and then i keep depending
on christ, who ascended to his seat in heaven

[interviewer]:
please, make your explanation more appealing, tim
i still don’t get it: what is k!lling sin?

[timothy brindle]:
well, i’m sorry, you’ll have to hear the rest of the album

[interviewer]:
how come?

[timothy brindle]:
’cause this song is now done
