letra de "positions": an analysis - .the may jailer
– hi there! it’s the may jailer, here to deliver you the first track on my new album -n-lysis series!
– today i’m here to (finally) review ariana grande’s newest studio album, positions. i’ll be doing a track-by-track review, and then rank the songs and share my overall thoughts!
– track 1: “shut up”
– ok. i actually really really enjoyed this one! obviously, the melody where she does this insane riff and then transposes it down, what a half step? gives mе major hayloft key change vibes. it rеally is a masterpiece, so far a god start to the album! 9/10
– track 2: 34 + 35
– one word: yes. i have never heard anyone sing about this kinda stuff so innocently, and the production on this track is literally perfect. i cannot. ariana, we love ya. dalton, thank you for making this happen :d 10/10
– track 3: motive ft. doja cat
– the fact that ari collaborated with doja twice on this album (the deluxe version anyway) makes me so so happy! there’s a certain majestic feel about doja cat’s voice. also, murda’s production is fire fire. 9/10
– track 4: just like magic
– the writing on this song is phenomenal. this is one of ariana’s more raw songs, and it really amplifies it. however, the beat/background kinda brought it down 9/10
– track 5: off the table ft. the weeknd
– the most criminally underrated song on positions. i knew it existed, but xo and ariana grande work so well together. i can’t. after “love me harder”, this has the same feel. 9/10
– track 6: six thirty
– hmm. this is interesting. the chorus is obviously very repetetive! i can’t really say if that’s a good thing or a bad thing. not terrible, but not really my thing either. 7/10
