letra de the palette of expression/green lights (interlude) - ted the poet

(poem)
in my hand
the palette of expression
there’s a couple colors
i ain’t had them in a second
see, the yellow’s old and crusty
but the black one always has to get refreshed
and i just cracked open this red one
for the first time
they love the blue paint when it’s splattered
just not too much
not enough to make them cry
just enough to give them goosebumps
but i can never get it out of my brush
i try to paint with thе yellow
the hue’s f-ckеd
i reach for a new brush
but each of them, blue’s touched
there’s no division on my palette of expression
but somehow, whatever happens to this canvas is impressive

(pre-chorus)
you cannot relate? good for you, what it be like? (yeah)
i’m tryna get like you ’cause that must be nice
i stay overthinking, you don’t even gotta think twice
stop sign, red light, road block
bet you hit nothing but the green lights, hold up
(chorus)
stop sign, red light, road block
bet you hit nothing but the green lights
stop sign, red light, road block
bet you hit nothing but the green, green (yeah, yeah)

(verse)
i don’t be talking at all, shushed (shhh)
i didn’t want this at all, pushed
give what i gotta give them so they all can feel good ’bout themself
then we all good
baby sheep, they don’t talk wolf
never walked through these dark woods (yeah)
just pried it out of me and got what you wanted
so what’s with the shocked look?
ugh, i just be too much for’m
didn’t wanna be the villain, but assumed the form
they ain’t veterans, they ain’t never been through this war
dried blood on the uniform
but they telling me let them in, now they jaw’s dropping through the floor
everybody thinking they can all consume these thoughts
that consume me, haunt me, no spoon or fork
open up, and i’m shocking them to the core, like

(modified pre-chorus)
you cannot relate? good for you, what it be like? (what it be like?)
(stop sign, red light, road block
bet you hit nothing but the green lights)
i’m tryna get like you ’cause that must be nice (i’m tryna get like you!)
(stop sign, red light, road block
bet you hit nothing but the green, green)
i stay overthinking, you don’t even gotta think twice (yeah)
(stop sign, red light, road block
bet you hit nothing but the green lights)
stop sign, red light, road block
bet you hit nothing but the green lights, hold up
(stop sign, red light, road block
bet you hit nothing but the green, green)
(verse)
blank stare, blank stare
no one ’round me understand, it ain’t fair
take care, take care, all i get is take care
moving with that devil-may-care
no more soul left to lay bare ’cause this world doesn’t play fair
got me growing some grey hairs
like my og’s, i be learning from they errors
i’m like

(pre-chorus)
you cannot relate? good for you, what it be like? (yeah)
i’m tryna get like you ’cause that must be nice
i stay overthinking, you don’t even gotta think twice
stop sign, red light, road block
bet you hit nothing but the green lights, hold up

(chorus)
stop sign, red light, road block
bet you hit nothing but the green lights
stop sign, red light, road block
bet you hit nothing but the green, green (yeah, yeah)

(verse)
ugh, i like when they get you
dissect it with precision, watch as i paint a picture
driving down the highway to h-ll, i’ll take it with ya
you is my type of people, my type a little twisted
my mind a little twisted, so the hairstyle fit
my pen game is filthy, and i swear by this sh-t
i’m one in 50 million, i’m a rare kind of sick
keep sleeping, it’s gon’ be some nightmare typa sh-t
