when i was walking home from the store
carrying my plastic grocery bags
i saw some stupid f-g get hit
by a car, what fools they all are

still, i wondered for a second at the moment of impact
from afar, could i really know the gender for a fact?

i left my groceries there on the sidewalk
ran to the crosswalk where it was lying
and choking back vomit i gazed at the carcass
and i reeled as the sky and the pavement, they blended

the world around me fell away
and the sight that i saw was sickeningly gray

it was hard to determine the s-x
just by looking at the guts
couldn’t tell whether or not, not at all
apparently we all look the same on the inside
who would’ve thought?
well, i blinked a few times, and i took a deep breath
and since there wasn’t anything i could do
i retrieved my plastic bags from the sidewalk
and i told myself everything would be fine
and i walked home calmly, truly thankful
that my frozen foods would make it home in time
