a stem of th-rns to admonish;
woe to the man whose haste you punish
with my hands, i dig into the soil
i reach for what i cannot describe
“to enter wild nature,” the spirit prescribes

within the world i cannot perceive
surrounded by life i cannot believe
swept into the current
the spirit takes my hand
might i receive these gifts from you?
do i even know what i ask?
laden with these questions, i let them dissolve
in this soothing presence
“as above, so below,”
i might rest assured
suspended among the stars
their children sing in chorus with me
the eidolon lays his hands upon
my tired weary head
mortal pain returns with a sudden sting
the choir and their voices cease to ring

as a th-rn pr-cks my skin, i open my eyes
my blood is spilled – a reminder of my earthly demise
this place is my dominion
willed by the spirit, not by opinion
upon the moss i lay my head
i rest now in this garden bed
