letra de clenched fists (demo) - sophie dingsdale
i’d rather die than tell the truth to you
i’d rather lie than live through you
and the water burrows into my clothes
weighing me down til i’m soaked right to the bone
but i’d rather drown than tell the truth to you
poetry was never my strong suit
i trip over my feet like a child taking their first steps
i overexplain, my words fill the page
the meaning diluted beneath
but i’d learn not to water it down for you
i want hands held carefully like you’re scared the glass will brеak
cause i’ve only known being draggеd by the wrist, by the wrist
i want you to follow through on every promise you made to stay
cause i’ve only known sharp edges and clenched fists
clenched fists
clenched fists
i’d build a life barely big enough for me to squeeze into
i’d lock myself in but wouldn’t dare to swallow the key
cause for all of my ailing and all of my doubt
for all of my defences meant to box you out
i’d build a life and hope maybe you’d try to squeeze in too
poetry was never my strong suit
i fumble each declaration like i’ve never held a pen in my life
all the smudges of ink from scribbling too quick
i could never quite sum up the ache
but i’d learn how to write it all down for you
i want hands held carefully like you’re scared the glass will break
cause i’ve only known being dragged by the wrist, by the wrist
i want you to follow through on every promise you made to stay
cause i’ve only known sharp edges and clenched fists
clenched fists
clenched fists
all i know
all i’ve ever known
is this
