alright, thank you, thank you very much
in honour of this occasion i’ve written a short speech
and it goes like this

love is work
but not in an unromantic way
to me, it’s like being a painter

you painstakingly you etch onto a canvas in a daily pursuit to create a masterpiece
you use fresh paint that inevitably will chip and fray with age
but the dried edges represent something deeper
they’re something to be cherished, prioritised and idealised

for the beauty of the painting isn’t in its recent application
or the vivacity of the newly added colours
it’s in the age and the story told by each individual crack
the growth and experiences shared represented by years of change and malleability
it’s by two people, both willing and able to make it work

and i think that’s what we’re all searching for
the opportunity to paint a masterpiece in tandem with the brush of another
because two brushes collectively will always paint something greater
than what a singular brush can paint alone
