citizen: king hrothgar!!! your majesty!!!!!!!! something terrible has happened at the mead hall! a demon came and took 30 of our men!!!! he just grabbed them all in one big giant hand!! what are we gonna do??!?!?!?

hrothgar: do not worry you stupid person. if we just wait twelve full years, then someone will be bound to help us. i am the best king of all time

narrator: and so they waited twelve entire years for their savior to come. twelve long years of pain and suffering that they had to endure, until he finally arrived. he came sailing from across the sea, on a quest to rid the world of the evil known as grendel. his name was beowulf

[verse 1: beowulf]

i have heard from far and wide
tales of hrothgar’s failing fight
i’ll put an end to denmark’s plight
once that monster’s in my sights
[rapping: grendel]

for over 12 years terrorizing all these danes
i go by grendel, yeah, you won’t forget that name
i destroy and devour, i’m your worst nightmare in sight
born of cain, i slay the geats, no chief can stand and fight

no one can equal my raw strength and power
my mere presence makes the bravest quiver and cower
they call me the beast, the monster from the deep
a terror to behold, i’ll make them all weep

beowulf thinks he’ll beat me, he’s mistaken

beowulf: i did it! i k!lled grendel! i tore his entire arm off with my bare hands! maybe i’ll go k!ll his mom, just for good measure. boy am i glad that i have the grip of thirty men

narrator: so beowulf went and k!lled grendel’s mom using a giant sword he just found lying on the ground. he was rewarded greatly for his valiant feats, and he soon returned home to geatland. once hygelac died and his son passed too, beowulf was named the king of geatland. he had a successful reign of 50 years, until, one fateful day, the dragon came

i’m the dragon, coming out my golden lair
gonna show you that i’m ready to dare
beowulf better be watchin’ his back
cuz i’m ’bouta launch an impeccable attack
