there’s an endlеss of things that we do that make no sense from a narrow biological point of view
on the other hand, they do make sense when you recognise that every single one of them is a response to some recent bit of human technology that’s been around for an eye blink in the human evolutionary scene, and that for the 99% of human existence in which we lived in nomadic hunter-gatherer bands, these temptations didn’t exist
