now true, ai may not produce actual living music. at its best it’s an almost convincing imitation of music. but that’s beside the point. r. stevie uses it with a curious mind. he creates parallel universes of what-ifs, a parody machine, a self-referential p-ss take on the current state of the culture. a way to infiltrate the mainstream bubble, to translate his art into the current digital language, all the while taking into consideration that in his own music r. stevie was already a human ai, stealing and mixing influences and styles, searching for the new
now i know that many of you do not embrace stevie’s methods. you think the old man’s lost it again. but let me tell you, dear folkies. you’re missing out on the joke. you fail to see the random poetry generated by the digital slop machine. it’s the human behind the robot, the bright sarcastic mind at work, the poet that seeks eternity in every human-created device, the curious ear, the bold mind that sees no limitations, no preconceptions. it’s all part of the tool box. ya know what i mean? something is happening and you don’t know what it is, do ya, mr jones…
