this is my plea to the state of georgia and any other state that hasn’t yet legalized marijuana

the rest of the country is slowly coming around
so im waiting on my state to take its weed laws down because
it’s the 21st century man
and a plant as beneficial as this shouldn’t be banned
alcohol is legal, so are cigarettes
but marijuana is illegal? tell me, whats the bigger threat?
to your health, to your own life and the lives of others
well its alcohol and cigarettes, i’ve discovered
drunk driving accidents k!ll tons of people yearly
and second hand smoke can mess up your lungs severely
and clearly, smoking weed is bad for you too
but if you eat it or vaporize it, what harm does it do?
you never see high people getting into fights
or arguments, but you might see em flying a kite
legalization is right, and its time you realize it
sufficed to say, its time to legalize it

i prolly just sound like a hippy, and sh-t man that’s fine
but being arrested for weed is a victimless crime
its my body and i should be able to choose what goes in it
but get caught with an ounce and that’s a one year sentence
cuz if its all about the money, then they could make a lot more
by making it legal and taxing it down at the corner store
but then again, the fines they give for possession
can trigger depression and a need for another smoke session
i’ve never heard a good reason why its illegal
the laws against it were made to persecute brown people
all it does is make you hungry, happy, and chill
and in my personal case, it helps make music i feel for real
doctors wouldn’t prescribe it in other states
if it had no place in a medical sp-ce
im tired of worrying about being busted by the legal guys
so i think its time to legalize

some call it marijuana

there are kids having seizures and they just can’t stop
but then they turn seizure free if they just take pot
it’s a form of medicine that grows out of the ground
and it’s a lot healthier than downing bottles of crown
i should know, so for the people that like to self medicate
leave the drinks alone, weed can take you to a better place
it doesn’t make you crazy or lazy
for me, it makes me jam out to music and then sleep like a baby
it makes sick people eat and insomniacs sleep
it helps glaucoma and can help with enjoying a feast and a beat
it decreases anxiety and it helps to relieve pain
aids creativity and i helps me to be sane
its already legal on the west coast, and that’s my best hope
for getting it legal out in the south where i rest, folks
in georgia, there’s no rush, but they need to prioritize it
cuzits time to legalize it

this song isn’t just about trying to get high legally. there are so many beneficial uses for cannabis, its ridiculous. it can be used to make cloth, rope, paper, fuel, jobs, the list goes on. the positives drastically outweigh the negatives and i just think its time for a change. obviously a lot of other people do to
