but i didn’t know where to start

so this is my new song
i only wrote it this afternoon
a little bit blue song
with a slightly wistful chorus tune

though i hate to have to read things off the page (yes i do)
if i don’t the chords might go a little bit strange

so this is my new song
and if its originality is in doubt
then this is a “screw you” song
y’know, it ain’t easy churning this sh-t out

and in a couple of months it won’t be new anymore (no it won’t)
and you’ll all have heard it a dozen times or more

it’ll just be an old song
disappointingly not obscene
just another pete gold song
to stick on my alb-m at track 14
