so, “i’m goin’ down,” when i was about five years old, my friend, my friend’s mother used to come pick us up from school and take us to the house for lunch. she was beautiful, this really, really beautiful woman, and um, she was playing this song all the time. she was really playing the car wash soundtrack all the time, and this song, she was playing all the time. but we will be singing this song like we were 40-year-old women and we had, we’ve been in a relationship for years. it was something about this song that just made me wanna sing it and i felt everything about it. i felt the sadness in it, ’cause it was all sad. and i just, it just made me feel everything, even as a kid. and then when i got older, and it was a song that i would listen to when i could hear it, growing up. and then when i got older and got into music business and started working on this album, it came back to me. it was a song that i always wanted to sing. and i sang it like, i sang it so hard when i was a little girl, i sang it like, like i was really going down, like i really was going through something. maybe i was. it came back to me through prince charles, this producer named prince charles, and where i — it was meant to be. “i’m goin’ down.”
