ten years ago, i left the house to go
and throw the trash out
man, brașov’s a beautiful city, especially
the council square and the playground
but i’m not playing now, i’m going to the waste ground
i arrived, and at a garbage man’s insistence
i threw the trash bags from a ten meter distance
why, why, why, why?
cause inside, there were some
țigani sitting there alone
no, not cleaning, they were sleeping
that was their home
why would i wanna bother them?
i was kinda frightened by them
didn’t have anything to tell or say
cause i ran the h-ll away
alright, then the very next day
this time i did go to play
at some point one boy came
asked us for some spare change
we just looked the other way
everyone hid their gold chains
cause our elders used to say
“you see brown, hide gold away!”
beggars at the subway and bus stations
not for their own motivation
to appeal more, some had broken legs or arms
cause if they didn’t earn nothing, they would starve
and if they did, they wouldn’t keep it for long
it’d just be taken by some older fools
they’d probably still starve, i know it’s wrong
but no other options, cause most didn’t go to school
man, i remember being afraid
they seemed scary, now they’re great
even though maybe i was cold
it’s how i was taught to see the world
i’m tired of this race!

and now i look around myself
at all the bad things taking place
whenever i feel mad or sad
i remember that it’s not that bad
now i reminisce and kinda wish i helped
i look at my life, the way i am myself
i eat full plates, some just wanna taste
