my favorite thing about chords is that you can put different chords under the same melody
say you have a melody like this

putting certain chords under it will make it feel a certain way
for example

or, if you want to go a little jazzier

or, perhaps you want something sort of grand, and royal sounding

its kind of like painting a thing in photoshop, and then changing its feeling with a blending mode on top
the base is the same, but because of this extra harmonic information it feels different
that’s all
