letra de the dread cathedral - kyle stibbs

[intro]
through the golden fields of ellomin
timmund gallops on a horse with martin riding on the beast
scouts have informed them that the templar left
save for the poet from cathedral to the east

[pre-chorus]
as they draw closer more of golden grass begins to wilt
littering ground around them, bones of templar’s previous k!lls
the air is bitter as if they can taste the evil
and looming high above them now
is the dread cathedral

[verse 1]
timmund and martin dismount now they’re standing in front of the ominous gate
they share a quick nervous look then they furrow their brows and timmund draws his blade
martin goes into their packs and he pulls out a bundle of coiled up chain
bear hound takes one end in mouth and the other is wrapped ‘round the handle and they

[pre-chorus]
brace themselves for what’s behind the door
bear hound slowly pulls it open, fog is swirling ‘round the floor
martin feels his courage growing feeble

[chorus]
as they enter in (as they enter in)
to the dread cathedral
[verse 2]
ancient gothic architecture
everything is black and steel
building maze-like in construction
staircases and hallways that feel
haunted and confusing
and the air is cold enough to see your breath

[verse 3]
they hear the clamoring of metal as four armoured watchmen arrive
bear hound knocks one of them down while timmund uses blade to take two of their lives
martin dodges several swings
then plunges dagger into watchmen’s neck

[pre-chorus]
bear hound is pierced by the one that it pinned
the watch tries to stand to push blade further in
but timmund is there in a flash and delivers a slash to remove both it’s hands
before the watch even reacts, martin has already leapt on it’s back
and he pushes knife into it’s head, saying
“i won’t have any more dead friends!”

[bridge]
dead end of the hall
and more watch begin to crawl
from shadows all around the group
and then they can hear
an organ echo all
around them, a melody of doom
[verse 4]
timmund whispers “that must be the poet”
martin says “then i think that we know where you’re going then
me and the bear hound’ll just keep on slowing them down for you.”
timmund asks “are you sure?”
martin says “what are squires for?

[chorus]
be safe my friend
in the dread cathedral”

[verse 5]
martin and bear hound clear a path
and timmund runs past fast
following the sound of the organ
martin and bear hound fight
dealing out deadly strikes
for each they k!ll there are more of them

[verse 6]
so they fall a bit back
into a room slamming door fast
the bear hound holds the door shut
in the centre of the room
a chest is in view, martin approaches and he opens it up
[verse 7]
in the hallway to cathedral’s amphitheater
timmund walks towards the final door
he’s surprised to see the armour of a templar
scattered all around the hallway floor

[verse 8]
as he enters the room he sees the poet from the back
wearing rags and he’s sat at an organ
it’s obvious that he knows timmund’s here
and his melody of doom starts slowly morphin’

[outro]
the kind of chills that only good poet can bring
and the good poet starts to sing
