letra de interview on killnick - killnick
what was your inspiration to start making music ?
i’d say i’ve always been involved in like the local music scene, going to lots of shows and stuff, so as i got older i kinda just embraced that side of myself more and more until it lead to me making my own music. it’s definitely more of a hobby, but hey, if it goes somewhere, i’m not complaining haha
when did you start making music how old are you and where are you based ?
honestly i only started making music like a year and a half ago, i was like 19 and one of my friends came over with his laptop and we just went from there. i’m from sarasota, florida though
what are 3 tips you have for upcoming artist that wanna get into music ?
don’t be afraid to perform. hitting up promoters to see how much they’d charge for to open for another artist is one of the best ways to grow. collab w other artists, anyone who you think is cool. that way those songs get twice the exposure. and really focus on social media, i hate it but that’s the only way to grow now
what is it about you that is different from other artist ?
i think lots of artists right now are trying to be just like other artists that inspired them. you see it with how everyone’s music is similar to like carti or ken carson right now, music likes to follow trends. not that there’s anything wrong with that, but i like to put out music that’s a mix of everything i listen to. i’ll take elements from lots of different types of music and throw it all together. i like to explain my sound as a mix between marilyn manson, linkin park, and chief keef
what are your goals with being an artist ?
i don’t have any like long term goals set really, i just kinda take it day by day. but if i had to pick, my biggest goal is to get poorstacy on one of my songs. kxllswxtch would be a dream too
where do you see yourself 5 years from now ?
hopefully, 5 years from now i’m still doing what i’m doing now, just on a bigger scale. by then though it would be great to not have to work a day job to support myself anymore, i guess that’s a good goal to have
how did you come up with your name ?
one of my friends birth names is k!llian, i was just thinking like d-mn “k!ll ian” sounds sick, and eventually i just applied it to my own name and ran with it from there. looking back i kinda wish i put more thought into it, but by now it’s tattooed across my fingers so i’m stuck with it
what’s your message to the youth ?
chase your f-ckin dreams man. two years ago i was in college studying to be a veterinarian. honestly i just dropped out on a whim and kinda got into making music shortly after, do what makes you happy and let the rest fall into place. don’t spend years wasting away in college just to work a job that doesn’t make you happy anyways. it might be harder but it’ll be worth it in the end
what are some challenges you’ve faced as an artist and how did you overcome them
probably the biggest challenge i’ve had as far as music goes was my first performance ever. there were like 20 people max, and i literally cried in my car before because i was so nervous. i f-cking sucked too looking back, but that just gave me the passion to do that much better next time, and it’s kinda just progressed naturally from there. i still get bad anxiety before i go on, but learning how to get in the zone and embrace it was a game changer for sure
what style would you consider your music to be ?
i think that most of my stuff falls into a trap metal style, but i also make more melodic emo rap songs and even some more rock/metal songs, but i’d say all of it falls into one or of those three buckets
