letra de let the ghetto drench me - kevin k
[intro – speech]
when you look at the world as a whole; and you try to find yourself in that
vast, complex, huge world we are in, you realize that you just a tiny portion of the world no matter how
big you are
ideas and actions through music and poetry will and will always change the world, remember that…
[verse 1]
how’s it goin’ young man?
you’ve-been-through so tough, i know you say you doin’ good-but i know you ain’t, i know you ain’t smilin’
and laughin’ like you used to, when you look in the mirror-sometimes you see the past, you see the
pressure and pain, and wonder how long will it last? cause back in those days when you kept thuggin
you gotta keep the bangin’-hustlin’ cause your cash wasn’t enough, you was raised havin’ a careless dad
-needed a father figure, mom’s got cancer, now your father may have lost his mind, you tried to keep
yourself together-sometimes you tried to be blind, but never satisfied, the childhood you had was full
of miseries, full of cries for help they never cared they’ll never see, you kept on strugglin’ to live without
sufficient guidance, you was discriminated-hated by everybody who knew you, you was aware you had
nothin’-all you got is yourself, you feared no evil, cause you know that yo’ strength is yo’ friend, you was
just makin’ a dolla’ out of a cent
so let the ghetto drench me
[first hook]
i would like to change the world but i can’t alone, now i wonder; do we really got the heart to change?
wait ’til you see me spark the brains that will change the world
so let the ghetto drench me
i was born in the ghetto, raised by the ghetto, molded by the ghetto, inspired by the ghetto
thuglife came knockin’ on my doors, i had to answer, i didn’t chosed the thuglife; it chosed me
[verse 2]
back at grade school you felt you was the poorest, your cl-ssmates showin’ off their kicks-your’s were hard
as a brick, back at the house life was a mess, everything was a challenge, couldn’t believe you feelin’ lost in
this path of lies, daddy was always away-unhappy family, and as the time goes by you went out to the
streets, learned how to hustle-make and sell drugs-had alot of cash, had friends and enemies-always hidin’
from the police-realized the street life is part of your biz, got the mind of a hustler, the heart of
a thug, you was that young boy lookin’ fo’ attention and love, but know you grown a lot, still out of all
the hate; you found love, you joined the gang, it was the thugs who accepted you, made you like their
brother-they always had your back, you fell addicted to the thug life, you never knew that-this-is the life
you wanted to choose, and now you gotta keep it gangsta cause it’s in yo’ roots, always out on the streetz
with all boyz in the hood, but you still never forget yo’ love for poetry, then you started rappin’ along with
all them rap songs, you found out you got rhymes and got a serious flow, instead of keepin’ quiet, poetry
made you have hope, witnessed a lot of fights, and some murders on the scary nights, the next day another
funeral is on sight, crimes in the hood became an everyday thing so as corruption from evil cops and from
the other officials as you can see its crucial, we see the youth is growin’-they need a role model, and
every child needs a father figure that some of us never had, so how long will this last? will you be achievin’
world peace while you still alive? will the youth be future of the good life?
so let the ghetto drench me
[second hook]
i would like to change the world but i can’t alone, now i wonder; do we really got the heart to change?
wait ’til you see me spark the brains that will change the world
so let the ghetto drench me
i was born in the ghetto, raised by the ghetto, molded by the ghetto, inspired by the ghetto
thuglife came knockin’ on my doors, i had to answer, i didn’t chosed the thuglife; it chosed me
[speech]
(ever since when i was kid the greatest influence of my life is 2pac shakur, huey p. newton, martin
luther king junior, malcolm x, muhammad ali, and nelson mandela)
[verse 3]
all the violence in this world just makes you feel jaded, graduated from the streetz that’s why you never
faded, still you always under estimated, always underrated, will there ever be a time that
you’re appreciated? you wanna live your dreams and a live a life fulfilled with no schemes, they say you
can’t achieve it, they try pull you down, sometimes no man will help you out if you ain’t it make it work
theres only playa-haters pushin’ you in to the dirt, but never feel you ain’t worth, always be alert, you gotta
keep yo’ head up-gotta stay strong, keep yourself hustlin’ and inspired all day long, the mannerisms of the
thug life is what you do, don’t let n0body contradict the things you do-they never know whats it like to
walk in your shoes, don’t be the beauty of the fool tryin’ to play it cool, feed yourself with new knowledge
and just keep it real-no time to freeze, follow shakur’s lead-gotta be a g, you know my struggle and
trouble spoken through rhythm and poetry, always remember that to dream is always for free, so work
hard for it-achieve it and let it be
so let the ghetto drench me
[third hook]
i would like to change the world but i can’t alone, now i wonder; do we really got the heart to change?
wait ’til you see me spark the brains that will change the world
so let the ghetto drench me
[speech]
alot of people only see my trouble, but they don’t see the struggle, you know i’m just tryin’ to find my
way in this society; just tryin’ to find my way in to this world because – i just really wanna be a somebody
instead of makin’ money off everybody
i ran away from home, i sold drugs, i sold anything that i could sell to anybody, just to have that cash
just to hustle, i ain’t never did a crime i ain’t have to do; i was on the streets, and everythang i had to do
was based on my survival instincts
i never chosed the struggle, i never chosed the trouble, i never chosed to hustle, thuglife just came
knockin’ on my doors so i had to answer ya-know-i’m-sayin, i never chosed the thuglife; it chosed me…
