when i started playing music
i have this dream in my head
of driving down a country road
with my guitar on a moped
stopping in a town
play someone’s house at a local library
but you know that’s not how a tour works
someone explained to me

i’m dreaming of a little tour
playing all those places that i’ve never played before
i’m dreaming of a little tour

every time i go from gothenburg to stockholm
on a swedish tour
i see the names of all those places
as we p-ss them on the e4
i think of the e-mails i’m getting
“when are you playing my little town?”
i say, “maybe on the next tour.”
well, i think that tour is now

i’m dreaming of a little tour
playing all those places that i’ve never played before

i’m thinking two weeks in may
when spring is turning into summer
i bring my guitar and my pa
you bring your friends and your lover

so if you have an apartment
or a barn or a library
or a church or a cafe
or a distinguished winery
and if you want me to play
but maybe you’ve never hosted a show before
