about 40 miles north of bowling green

eight reindeer and an old guy in a red sleigh

it was spread out on his lap

eatin’ barbeque has made him fat
he’s got an i love earnhardt sticker on the tailgate of his sleigh
and a big white mullet underneath his hat
through the busted screen door i could see inside
mrs. clause was on the couch with tobacco in her mouth
that trailer wern’t the only thing thas was double wide
that’s why i believe that santa is a redneck
and i know why the reindeer stay in line
he keeps a rifle there behind him in the gun rack
i’d fly too if i thought he might shoot off my behind

last summer i saw him on the lake
he had a laid back att-tude and an outboard evinrude
b-ss fishing from the back of his red snake
