on a thursday night
to dry my tears and take these
weary eyes
far away from the glistening moonlight

i watch a baby penguin
swimming along
through the frozen water
next to his mum
splashing round under the cold antarctic sun

and a whale splashes its tail
having a whale of a time
taking a deep long breath
getting ready to dive
deep down
underneath the tide

but then my computer dies
the screen goes black
my sober face evidently comes
staring back
and i’m confronted by the realisation that
i’m all alone
i’m all alone again
so i plug the charger in
grab a pizza slice
tonight i’ve decided to treat
myself nice
roll a cigarette and put a movie on
splashing round under the cold antarctic sun
