this songs a message to the kids, teens, and adults
who missed the message of d.a.r.e. and thought it was cult
i’m not saying you’re wrong the program flipped on itself like a somersault
but that doesn’t mean it’s statements shouldn’t bring you to a halt
first off if you’re religious sobriety something you were preached and taught
from the holy books to the teachers it was a battle they fought
prohibition taught us people would risk everything they had for a crop
and still to this day peoples lives would get ruined if they got caught
i understand narcotics are an easy vice for the happiness sought
by all alive and they’re so easily got sold and bought
but all they do is mask the problems while they form tighter knots
while all you receive is , more debt, addiction, and feeling lost
next time you go to blaze, drink, snort, or pop
think is it worth risking what you’ve already got
my prediction is you’re probably gonna’ think not
and if the realization makes you weep, cry it out, you can wipe up snot

don’t do drugs, drugs are bad
unless they’re not and then they’re rad
do what you want f-ck if a stranger gets mad
screw mommy and daddy if they get sad
but i’m no saint, just a young lad
and i still need to grow, so this is probably a fad

the next issue to tackle is called peer pressure
at some point through our lives everybody’s the victie and aggressor
this is an issue many would personify as a jester
even though there isn’t much comedy in being pestered
the summative message is as cheesy as chester
but if someone says no, stop your gesture
doesn’t matter if you think it’s friendly, if you push you pester
being an annoyance simply gets you thought of lesser
if you’re on the receiving end, politely decline
even if they make you feel guilty, you’ve gotta’ dive
don’t give a nanosecond of thought, let them be brine
remember you come first, not a radical score of you in their mind
this could be drugs, s-x, whatever pins you in a bind
piercings or getting a tattoo on your side
everything can be problematic when you prod the line
falling under’s like shoots and ladders, and you’re down the slide

i’m not preaching sobriety to be a pr-ck
you do what you want, roll a joint, take a hit
at the end of the day why should you even give a sh-t
about what some random guy says, he’s probably just a d-ck
i say what i say because clarity’s my shtick
if a mind state was a choice it’d be my first pick
and it’s a choice, so you gotta’ break from the niche
realize fun doesn’t require smoke, tablets, or taking a sip
i’ll admit late 13 to early 16 i drank a bit
honestly i liked the taste of the burn, and that’s about it
i never got drink, if it remotely affected my head i quit
i’m all about clarity, but i was shortly a victim to the trick
individually you have to wake up and burn off the ricks
that any activity brings before they make you sick
everything comes at a price, and it could be one l1ck
for an addiction to form and put your life at risk

honestly in reality you shouldn’t listen to me
i’m an inexperienced kid, just a squid leaking ink
over the years depressions eroded quite a few of my links
so i perfectly understand if you resort to the drink
but mad respect if you rise and don’t sink
h-ll, i’m extremely proud of those who pull themselves out the brink
are able to overcome the battle despite scars and drinks
move on feeling resilient, while prior feeling weak
i could really give a minute f-ck if you live by what i speak
to a lot of people it seems impossible or hard to reach
but in my gut i feel at sobriety you peak
your lifestyles your choice, don’t feel pressured to follow what i preach
i’m still the awkward kid not getting approached at meet and greets
still that anorexic, pale little boy, to avoid in the street
that kid you fear’s gonna’ bring in a trench coat and let off some heat
that one hooligan to take your life from straight to oblique
